Fortis Alberta is seeking an experienced Facilities Projects Supervisor to lead the planning and delivery of facility infrastructure projects across our building portfolio.

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Capital Management & Facilities, this role will oversee projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.

You'll provide technical leadership, oversee contractors and vendors, manage project budgets and schedules, and work with teams across the organization to ensure projects meet both operational needs and long‑term facility requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
  • Own the facilities project strategy, including setting priorities, mitigating and managing risk, and establishing technical standards and governance frameworks. Establish and maintain quality and performance standards across mechanical, electrical, structural, and general building systems.
  • Chair portfolio reviews, ensuring alignment to corporate standards and initiating corrective actions.
  • Represent the Facilities function in regulatory engagements.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of projects ensuring compliance with corporate procedures.
  • Coordinate inspections and building assessments and approve or recommend remediation actions.
  • Track and report project milestones, deliverables, and metrics.
  • Contribute to annual budget planning including preparing and validating forecasts for various projects.
  • Ensure contractor invoicing accuracy and cost control.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of contractors; this includes providing clear communication, direction, expertise and advice to contractors, ensuring objectives and training requirements are met and are executed.
  • Participate in renewals or RFP’s of contracts which may include contract negotiation, bids, and proposals, reviewing with contract team so they reflect the services required by the company.
  • Manage all aspects of vendor management, including contract management, sourcing and selecting contract resources, and ensuring compliance with agreed upon Terms and Conditions.
  • Engage across the organization to ensure that facility project requirements, technical standards, and operational impacts are fully integrated into project planning and delivery across the portfolio.
  • Investigate and resolve facility related incidents as they pertain to projects.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and support or authorize investigations.
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with all levels of employees through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes.
  • Customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders; this includes excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, controls, fire protection).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands under pressure and tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to evaluate solutions and risks, gain consensus, and recognize opportunities for improvement and efficiency in processes and practices.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of project delivery accounting practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related discipline plus a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant facilities or infrastructure experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience managing contractors and complex facilities projects is required.
  • Project Management designation (PMP, PRINCE2, ACP or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Experience with SAP, CAD, and FM systems is an asset.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Frequent travel throughout the service territory, including remote sites.
