What You’ll Do

As a Journeyman Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing aerial lifts, material-handling equipment, small engines, and related rental fleet assets. Your work helps ensure equipment is safe, compliant, reliable, and rental-ready so customers receive dependable equipment and branch teams can meet operational commitments.

  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair aerial lifts, material-handling equipment, small engines, and related rental fleet assets.
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel-system diagnostics and repairs using schematics, OEM guidance, warning labels, and approved troubleshooting practices.
  • Complete preventive maintenance services, inspections, and scheduled repairs in accordance with OEM specifications and company service standards.
  • Complete service calls, customer work orders, internal repair requests, and related documentation accurately, including labour time, parts usage, repair notes, and follow-up needs.
  • Recondition, replace, and install parts on heavy equipment and related machinery while supporting accurate repair-cost documentation.
  • Identify wear, defects, hazards, safety concerns, and potential equipment failures, and communicate repair needs or delays to the Service Manager or designate.
  • Work closely with Service, Parts, Dispatch, Sales, and branch team members to support equipment availability and customer-related repair priorities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and compliant workspace by following 5S expectations, shop housekeeping standards, proper tool care, and safe use of diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications Required
  • Journeyman / Journeyperson certification in a related trade is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience repairing equipment, vehicles, heavy equipment, forklifts, aerial lifts, small engines, or similar machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel-system diagnostics and repair.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment schematics, manufacturer information, repair guidance, warning labels, and service documentation.
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, manage time effectively, communicate clearly, and work independently or in a team setting.
  • Basic computer skills required to complete work orders, repair notes, time entries, parts documentation, and related records.
  • Ability to work legally in Canada.
Preferred
  • Red Seal certification is considered an asset where applicable.
  • Experience in equipment rental, construction, industrial equipment, material handling, aerial lift, forklift, or heavy equipment service environments.
  • Familiarity with OEM repair standards, preventive maintenance schedules, warranty or service documentation, and fleet readiness expectations.
  • Experience working with rental, service, inventory, or work order systems.
  • Additional equipment, safety, forklift, aerial lift, or manufacturer training is considered an asset.
