Full-time, 40 hours/week

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Hybrid remote (2-3 days/week onsite)

Summary

The Accountant II provides advanced accounting functions including financial and statistical analyses, preparation and submission of financial results, and monthly review and analyses for Akron Children's Hospital and its subsidiaries in areas specifically assigned. The position is integral to the monthly general ledger financial closing and reporting of Children's operations in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The role relies on education, experience, and judgement to plan and accomplish goals, and may provide training, guidance, and support to lower level financial positions.

Responsibilities

Prepare and post general ledger entries in conjunction with monthly closing processes and reconcile general ledger accounts; administer and maintain sub ledgers and financial/statistical information.

Interact with internal and external auditors on a routine basis.

Assist with general ledger analysis including account reconciliations, monthly and period‑end closing, ad‑hoc reporting and analysis, and year‑end audit schedules.

Ensure departmental and organizational compliance with current accounting standards, hospital policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

Perform other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

Experience in accounting is required.
Proactive function in a demanding environment is required.
Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
Experience in healthcare preferred; experience with Foundation and Grants preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word) and working proficiently in an ERP computerized system.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required;
Master's degree is preferred.
CPA certification preferred.
3 years of relevant experience required; at least 5 years preferred.
No supervising experience required.
