Position Summary

With direct supervision, the Accountant I assists more senior accounting professionals to coordinate and administer accounting initiatives at a local level. Day-to-day responsibilities include the application of accounting principles, analysis of information, and preparing financial/cost accounting reports. This role will have no direct reports.

Essential Functions
  • Completes assigned daily general ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial data
  • Maintains and reconciles accounts payable/receivable ledger accounts, financial statements and reports
  • Collects and compiles simple financial information and assists senior accountant to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements for managers
  • Answers standard accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations
  • Complies with all accounting principles and all relevant regulations, laws, and standards
  • Resolves discrepancies and issues with suppliers, customers, and intercompany business partners promptly
  • Supports internal and external audit preparation and follow-up activities
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  • Communicates effectively by phone or email, while maintaining a professional manner
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Auditing experience a plus; SOX controls a plus
  • Foundational understanding of accounting principles (GAAP awareness a plus)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (sorting, formulas, pivot tables a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn
