We're partnering with a rapidly growing specialty contractor to identify a Divisional Controller for a newly acquired operation based in Akron, Ohio
. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys building processes, partnering with operations, and helping drive business performance.
The division specializes in security integration
, providing and installing access control systems, surveillance cameras, specialized security doors, servers, and other integrated security solutions for commercial clients. This position will oversee all accounting and financial operations for the division while serving as a trusted business partner to operational leadership.
Candidates with experience in specialty contracting, construction, electrical contracting, or similar project-based industries are especially encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all accounting and financial operations for the division
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Partner with divisional leadership to improve profitability and support strategic decision-making
- Manage project accounting, revenue recognition, job costing, and work-in-progress reporting
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Coordinate with corporate finance on reporting requirements and integration initiatives
- Oversee cash flow, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and general ledger activities
- Support annual audits and work with external auditors and tax professionals
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiency

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience
- Experience in construction, specialty contracting, electrical contracting, security integration, or other project-based industries strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with job costing, project accounting, and revenue recognition
- Proven ability to partner with operational leaders and communicate financial results effectively
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
- CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
