Clerical, Office Administrator/ Coordinator
General Overview
Under general supervision and direction, serves as liaison between appointing public and private agencies, department heads, and the general public, receives and resolves complaints, performs secretarial tasks for the appointing authority, including work of a confidential nature. Performs other related duties as required.
Required QualificationsCompletion of two (2) years post-secondary education in business, secretarial sciences, or other related discipline, plus two years of experience performing responsible administrative, clerical, and or equivalent combinations of training and/or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of department policies and procedures. Through knowledge of supervision, employee training, and development, advanced knowledge is gained. Public relations requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and establish a friendly work atmosphere. Coordinates work function toward common objectives, communicates effectively in oral and written form. Through knowledge of secretarial sciences, advanced knowledge of the ability to prepare and maintain accurate documentation, develop and maintain working relationships with associates, public officials, sworn deputies, and the general public, skills in the operation of office equipment, typing, and knowledge of Microsoft and Excel programs.
Through knowledge of county government standards and processes.
Performs a variety of secretarial, clerical, payroll, and fiscal tasks - including work of a confidential nature to provide assistance to the appointing authority. Prepares and types correspondence tasks, maintains appointment calendar, screens mail, and maintains files, etc. Serves as liaison between the appointing authority and other elected officials, department heads, and the general public, receives and resolves complaints, provides information and responds to inquiries of a general nature;
represents the appointing authority at public and private meetings. Researches, compiles, and analyzes data; assists the appointing authority with the drafting of departmental policies and procedures.
