Overview
We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Lead Business Development professional to drive growth within the Gas Distribution & Storage (GDS) Industrial segment across Ohio. This role is responsible for building high-value customer partnerships, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and leading initiatives that expand revenue while supporting long-term system and operational success.
The ideal candidate is a customer-focused sales leader who thrives in complex environments, excels at cross-functional collaboration, and has a proven track record of achieving ambitious business development goals.
Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Growth- Develop and execute long-term account strategies to drive retention, expansion, and value creation for high-priority industrial customers.
- Lead the full sales lifecycle, including prospecting, solution design, contract negotiation, closing, implementation, and ongoing relationship management.
- Identify emerging customer needs, market trends, and growth opportunities to influence internal strategy and solution development.
- Serve as the voice of the customer by aligning internal teams to deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions.
- Represent the organization at industry events, regulatory discussions, and customer forums to strengthen market presence and partnerships.
- Partner with operations, engineering, regulatory, marketing, and customer service teams to deliver integrated business solutions.
- Drive alignment across departments to ensure successful execution of customer initiatives and projects.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing sales team through clear performance expectations, feedback, and professional development.
- Monitor key metrics including revenue growth, sales targets, customer satisfaction, and operational effectiveness; use data insights to refine strategy and execution.
- 10+ years of business development or strategic sales experience, preferably within the utilities or energy industry.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and/or large-scale initiatives.
- Proven success in target-driven environments with consistent achievement of revenue and market growth goals.
- Strong executive-level communication and influence skills, including experience presenting to C-suite stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Accounting, or a related field.
- Familiarity with regulators, intervenors, competitors, and the broader utilities ecosystem.
- Ability to translate customer insights into comprehensive, results-driven business strategies.
