Role DescriptionThe Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive proposals for a variety of construction projects. The individual in this position should have a strong understanding of construction means and methods and the ability to interpret project requirements, specifications, and scope of work. A successful Estimator will be capable of completing detailed take-offs, reviewing Requests for Proposal (RFP) packages, conducting site reviews, and developing comprehensive estimates.
This position will participate in project-related meetings and site visits as required, collaborate with field leadership to understand project scope, and clearly communicate project requirements and the basis of estimates during bid reviews.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, and RFP packages to determine scope and pricing requirements.
- Complete material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor take-offs.
- Attend field walkdowns and site visits with project and field leadership and customer representatives as required.
- Prepare proposals with limited assistance, including project schedules, cash flows, execution plans, and supporting documentation.
- Participate in bid reviews and communicate estimate assumptions, scope, and execution plans.
- Maintain accurate and organized estimating documentation and supporting information.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in construction estimating or a related field.
- Experience with online client portals and project scheduling software, such as Oracle Primavera P6, preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Good oral and written communication skills for effective internal and external discussions.
