Assistant Construction Manager
Our client is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support the day-to-day execution of complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), construction management, and program management projects. This position will work closely with Construction Project Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, EPC Project Managers, and Program Managers to support project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, estimating, documentation, turnover, client interface, and field-based activities.
The Assistant Construction Manager will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple industries, including aviation, commercial buildings, electrical transmission and distribution, facilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, power generation, process, and water.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to company safety programs, training requirements, and policies while collaborating with project teams to manage the safety and health performance of project team members, contractors, subcontractors, and other personnel.
- Collaborate with Project Management teams to build and maintain strong client relationships and interface with clients regarding proposal and project-related activities.
- Assist with internal and external project risk reviews and consult with Legal as required.
- Coordinate and assist in developing and implementing project plans, including:
- Project Execution Plans
- Quality Assurance Plans
- Safety & Health Plans
- Subcontracting Plans
- Project Staffing Plans
- Organization Charts
- Procurement Plans
- Support the negotiation, approval, and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Develop site mobilization and demobilization plans and support Construction Managers and Site Managers with implementation.
- Secure applicable project permits and approvals required for project execution.
- Support potential bidder registration and prequalification efforts.
- Prepare Requests for Proposal (RFPs), assist with detailed scope-of-work development, support bid and selection processes, and assist with preparation of contract documents for subcontractor and client contractor selection and award.
- Support the implementation of project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.
- Execute downstream contract administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change management, and claims mitigation.
- Support project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, project setup and closeout, and field progress tracking.
- Prepare and report project status, risks, schedule, costs, and cash flow information for project and corporate-level meetings.
- Develop and distribute meeting minutes as needed.
- Support prime contract, subcontract, client contractor, and supplier invoicing processes.
- Establish, review, and implement project documentation, filing systems, and document control processes.
- Verify that required insurance, licenses, taxes/duties, bonds, and securities are in effect in accordance with project requirements.
- Support and conduct project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments.
- Facilitate materials receiving and management processes, including inventory control, receipt of goods, storage, and transportation.
- Collaborate with Superintendents and Site Managers to verify subcontractor and client contractor compliance with contract documents, safety and health requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Facilitate project turnover documentation, recordkeeping and retention, warranty administration, and project closeout activities.
- Assist with maintaining compliance on all project-related activities by consistently applying company policies and procedures.
- Assist with the development of project labor agreements with building trades as required.
- Assist with onboarding craft personnel and field supervision as required.
- Analyze composite crew rates to determine labor and equipment costs.
