Position: Service Ambassador I - Protective Services

Service Ambassador I - Protective Services

Full-time, 35 hours weekly

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 5am-12pm

Location:

Akron City Campus, Akron, Ohio

Salary: $16.60/hr – $19.92/hr

Service Ambassador I is the first point of contact for employees, vendors, and patrons at hospital entrances, creating a positive first impression for patients, families, and visitors. They ensure permitted entry to maintain health and safety, provide assistance with appointments, pre‑registration, testing and department locations, and help ensure compliance with local and federal laws governing access and safety.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Formal

    Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience & Training: One (1) year experience in a direct role in customer service, meeting and exceeding Service Excellence Standards of Summa Health System
  • Other Skills, Competencies and

    Qualifications:

    • Basic computer skills and ability to use various applications
    • Effective interaction with diverse populations, respecting self‑respect and dignity
    • Active listening with empathy and professionalism
    • Accurate knowledge of hospital layout and construction
    • Strong communication skills to elicit/provide information to supervisors, co‑workers and visitors
    • Excellent customer service and problem resolution
    • Ability to deescalate angry visitors/patients
    • Work well under pressure and analyze situations quickly
    • Excellent attendance record; good judgement and behavior
    • Professional relationships with employees, vendors, and patrons
    • Basic phone and computer skills (email, texting, etc.)
    • Ability to work alone and in a team, with minimal supervision
    • Capability to navigate through the facility
  • Physical Demands: Sedentary; may exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally or negligibly frequently
