Project Architect Opportunity

Our client is a well-established architecture and design firm specializing in commercial retail projects across North America. They are seeking an experienced Project Architect to join their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on retail renovations, tenant improvements, and new construction projects from concept through construction administration while collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and internal design teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete construction documents and technical drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Develop practical and code-compliant design solutions for commercial retail projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams throughout all project phases.
  • Participate in client meetings, project reviews, and design presentations.
  • Assist with permitting and ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Provide construction administration support, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and field coordination.
  • Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.
  • Support multiple projects while maintaining quality, schedules, and project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of architectural experience in commercial renovations and new construction.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (required).
  • Experience preparing construction documents from schematic design through construction.
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and applicable building regulations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with retail tenant improvement (TI) projects.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants and construction teams.
  • Construction administration experience, including RFIs, submittals, and site observations.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes for commercial projects.
  • Professional licensure or progress toward licensure is a plus.
