Under the direction of the Youth Success Summit (YSS) Executive Director, the Youth Program Coach provides relationship based, culturally responsive, in person and virtual coaching to assigned after school and summer learning programs for the purpose of enhancing quality of services, increasing positive youth outcomes, and expanding youth opportunities in the Greater Akron area. Using a continuous improvement cycle, coaches assist after school and summer staff as they self‑assess their program’s strengths, develop actionable plans to address their needs, and provide professional learning opportunities to achieve their goals.

This position supports the collaborative work of the Akron Area YMCA and the Youth Success Summit (YSS), leading nonprofits committed to strengthening the foundations of our community.

• Delivering coaching in person and virtually to after school and summer program staff using various tools to support and grow their programs.
• Provide culturally responsive coaching to guide and support youth programs through the quality improvement process and other program goals.
• Support youth programs, YSS, and the organizations that support programming (i.e., civic, business, philanthropic) in identifying and eliminating any systemic disparities which may perpetuate inequities in youth participation and success.
• Facilitate individual or group sessions to support sustainable change in staff performance and youth outcomes.
• Attune to the needs of the individuals they are coaching and individualizing their approach as needed.
• Lead reflective practice discussions to support the program lead and staff in identifying areas of existing strength and opportunities for new learning and growth using a variety of tools.
• Model best practices that are culturally relevant and cognitively, linguistically, socially and emotionally appropriate and responsive.
• Support programs to incorporate self‑assessments, actionable improvement plans, and professional learning supports into their annual program cycles.
• Design and deliver culturally responsive training and coaching services to support implementation of action plans.
• Facilitate other Youth Success Summit training necessary to support the network.
• Promote the Ohio after school Network (OAN) quality guidelines.
• Stay abreast of current trends, research and issues relevant to licensed school‑age childcare and expanded learning opportunities and ensure YSS professional learning opportunities reflect current trends.
• Promote the benefits of quality after school programs to the public and to key community partners.
• Serve as an ambassador for the organization, both formally and informally, and promote YSS activities/resources through community presentations as necessary.

• Serving as a valued member of the Youth Success Summit team, participate in professional practices that support a cohesive team and meet shared goals for the organization.
• Participate in team meetings and report on progress of programs to provide feedback for YSS improvement.
