Part-Time Faculty - English Composition

Minimum Education:

* Master's degree in the content area or master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the content area

Preferred Education:

* Master's degree in Composition/Writing Instruction - Composition and Basic Writing

* Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a Reading Endorsement

Required Experience

* English Composition - 1-2 years of experience teaching first-year Composition

* Basic Writing - 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental writing

* College Reading and Study Skills - 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental reading and knowledge of reading theory.

Responsibilities

* Instruct courses aligned with departmental goals for first-year writing and/or developmental writing/reading.

* Develop syllabi, assignments, and rubrics that support student learning outcomes.

* Provide feedback on student assignments through written comments, conferences, and peer review sessions.

* Assess student performance using formative and summative evaluation methods.

* Integrate technology and digital literacy into writing instruction (e.g., using LMS platforms, online research tools).

* Hold regular office hours to support student learning and address individual concerns.

* Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
