** Responsibilities:
** Teach up to 6 credit hours following the course curriculum in compliance with the Department of Modern Languages requirements, University General Education TAG requirements, and the course learning objectives. This would be two sections of Japanese Culture Through Film.
This course explores various aspects of Japanese culture from feudal to modern times through the viewing of films by native Japanese directors. Discussions focus on the traditional mentality and way of life that remain unchanged over time, as well as on the transformations affected by Western influences. The objective of this course is for students to broaden their cultural horizons by learning unique aspects of Japanese culture and gaining insights into the Japanese way of life.
At the same time, students will develop a cross-cultural perspective on the many similarities and differences between Japanese and American culture. Students are not required to know the Japanese language for this course. Course conducted in English.
Instructors are asked to develop lesson plans and assignments based on provided course syllabus. Update course information on Brightspace or other approved LMS. Grade assignments and provide feedback for the purpose of revision. Maintain the gradebook in Brightspace so that students are aware of their grades throughout the semester. Respond to emails from students and the University administration. Maintain office hours or another method of allowing students in their classes to meet with them.
On a part-time basis, fulfill teaching responsibilities of assigned courses for an appointed term.
