Qualifications:

• Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth baseball coaching experience.
• Appropriate CPR and Pupil Activity Certification prior to the beginning of the season.
• Appropriate BCI & FBI background screening prior to the beginning of the season.
• Strong knowledge of baseball skills, fundamentals, rules, etc.
• Must be willing to commit to evening and weekend practices and events as dictated by the athletic season schedule.
• Valid Ohio teaching licensure.
• Successful experience as a teacher.
• Current Akron Public Schools full‑time contract teacher.

Position

Description:

• Develop and implement the baseball program within the rules and regulations of the Akron Public Schools and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
• Assist with the development and coordination of the season game schedule.
• Develop conditioning and training programs; implement necessary safety measures related to the baseball program.
• Organize and manage practice sessions.
• Manage selected coaching staff.
• Assist with monitoring student‑athlete academic progress.
• Monitor eligibility of student athletes involved in the baseball program.
• Coordinate the use of practice facilities and equipment when applicable.
• Attend appropriate workshops and clinics as necessary to remain abreast of current procedures and requirements.
• Report to the Athletic Director and Principal.
