Job DescriptionThe Akron Board of Education announces a vacancy for VARSITY GIRLS WRESTLING COACH at FIRESTONE CLC.
Responsibilities- Assist with development and implementation of the wrestling program under Akron Public Schools and Ohio High School Athletic Association regulations.
- Coaching and managing student athletes assigned to the wrestling program/team.
- Coordinate season schedule and training programs; implement safety measures related to wrestling.
- Organize and conduct practice sessions, ensuring safety of student athletes.
- Manage selected coaching staff and ensure compliance with program guidelines.
- Monitor and support academic progress of student athletes, conduct study sessions as needed.
- Handle transportation requests and coordinate travel for away games.
- Monitor eligibility of student athletes in the program.
- Assist athletes with college recruitment and scholarship opportunities as applicable.
- Coordinate use of practice facilities and equipment.
- Attend workshops and clinics to remain current with procedures and requirements.
- Report to the Athletic Director and Principal.
- Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth wrestling coaching experience.
- Appropriate CPR and Pupil Activity Certification prior to beginning of season.
- Background screening (BCI & FBI) prior to beginning of season.
- Strong knowledge of basketball skills, fundamentals, rules, etc.
- Willingness to commit to evening and weekend practices and events as directed by the athletic season schedule.
- Valid Ohio teaching licensure.
- Successful teaching experience.
- Current Akron Public Schools full‑time contract teacher.
