The Akron Board of Education announces a vacancy for VARSITY BASEBALL COACH at FIRESTONE HIGH SCHOOL.

Position Type: Full-time

• Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth baseball coaching experience.
• Appropriate CPR and Pupil Activity Certification prior to the beginning of the season.
• Appropriate BCI & FBI background screening prior to the beginning of the season.
• Strong knowledge of baseball skills, fundamentals, rules, etc.
• Must be willing to commit to evening and weekend practices and events as dictated by the athletic season schedule.

• Valid Ohio teaching licensure.
• Successful experience as a teacher.
• Current Akron Public Schools full-time contract teacher.

• Develop and implement the baseball program within the rules and regulations of the Akron Public Schools and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
• Assist with the development and coordination of the season game schedule.
• Develop conditioning and training programs; implement safety measures as necessary and related to the baseball program.
• Organize and manage practice sessions, etc.;
• Management of selected coaching staff.
• Assists with monitoring student athlete academic progress.
• Monitor eligibility of student athletes involved in the baseball program.
• Coordinates the use of the practice facilities and equipment where applicable.
• Attends appropriate workshops and clinics as necessary to remain abreast of current procedures and requirements.
• Reports to the Athletic Director and Principal.
