qualifications- commissioned officer or warrant officer retired less than five years from the us army, us army reserve, or us army national guard with proper certification through the u.s. Army cadet command.
- local resident (native to the area or willing to move).
- experience working with teenagers (coach, scout leader, teacher).
- teaches a multi-subject, three or four year curriculum and develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order in the classroom fairly and justly.
- instructs in military drill.
- maintains control of all government-furnished equipment and materials, including semi-annual 100% inventories.
- writes and updates lesson plans for the multi-subject curriculum and attends courses of instruction to improve teaching abilities.
- ensures proper physical security of all government-furnished equipment and materials.
- plans and conducts extracurricular activities for jrotc, including color guard ceremonies, drill team, rifle team, academic teams, competitive meets, field trips, and jrotc leadership camp.
- prepares monthly, semi-annual, annual, and periodic reports on program administration and logistics.
- stays current on new developments and organization within the us armed services branches.
- assesses the jrotc program to assure program objectives are met.
- attends government-sponsored seminars to remain abreast of new program management requirements.
- makes annual presentations on the jrotc program to all students at feeder schools to recruit new cadets.
- counsels students in the jrotc program and establishes rapport with school counselors and all faculty members.
- maintains financial accounts of the operating budget and prepares financial vouchers for reimbursement of expenditures to the school in support of the jrotc program.
- establishes contact with civic groups to obtain their recognition of the jrotc program.
- maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- reports to and carries out any other responsibilities assigned by the building principal.
