Family Consumer Science Instructor - Miller South Anticipated)
Posting opens June 8, 2026; posting closes June 18, 2026. Job Code 006, Time Schedule 380 (190 days). Starting salary $48,967.10. Extended time may be required before and/or after the school year, compensated at the hourly extended time rate. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.
Qualifications – Required- Licensure: Must meet one of the following:
- Currently hold a Family and Consumer Science (FCS) teaching license issued by the state of Ohio.
- Currently hold a Career Technical Education (CTE) teaching credential eligible to teach Culinary (L0) or Hospitality (L1) pathways.
- Be eligible for acquiring a teaching license in the FCS or Culinary pathways, documented by a current CTE-36, and complete eligibility requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Culinary Arts plus at least 2 years of recent work experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus at least 5 years of recent work experience in Hospitality or Culinary Arts.
- Current Teacher Eligibility:
- Valid Ohio resident educator, professional, permanent, or five-year CTE license.
- Baccalaureate degree.
- Passing score on the FCS content-knowledge exam.
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of the exam and issuance of an FCS supplemental teaching license.
- New hires under supplemental license must complete at least 2 years of mentored teaching in FCS.
- Additional Licensure Requirements:
- Maintain current instructional standards certifications and credentials for career technical funding.
- Meet district entry-year teacher requirements, including Four-Year Resident Educator and/or PAR requirements.
- Meet the State of Ohio CTE Quality Program Standards criteria.
- Attend required third-party curriculum training.
- Experience teaching FCS and professional/employability skills at the secondary level.
- Experience leading and guiding a team.
- Commitment to annually update educational and trade skills.
- Commitment to work with students and community in a multicultural setting.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.

- Plan and deliver learning experiences that advance the learning of each student; provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Design authentic learning experiences for students to learn core knowledge, 21st-century skills, and literacies through collaboration, problem-based learning, inquiry, and curriculum integration.
- Assist all students to meet or exceed 21st-century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards.
- Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies for each student’s academic growth.
- Assist in the development of the curriculum outline, guides, and graded course of study using appropriate standards per the Ohio Department of Education.
- Engage community and business partners as resources in curriculum development and student products.
- Use technology to develop student content knowledge and skills for learning, critical thinking, problem solving, information use, communication, innovation, creation, and collaboration.
- Use continuous, authentic, and appropriate assessment and evaluation measures that are evidence-based and use results to improve instruction and student learning, including progress reports.
- Be flexible, resourceful, innovative, and effectively manage the design and execution of both formal and informal learning experiences.
- Create a classroom environment that incorporates staff members from partnering organizations as an ongoing presence and fosters engagement, self-motivation, student self-direction, and positive social interaction.
