The Akron Board of Education announces an anticipated opening for an Art Teacher K-12 (Job Code 006, TS 380 – 190 days). Starting Salary: $46,967.10. Collective Bargaining Unit: AEA. This position is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

Required Qualifications- Valid Ohio K-12 Art licensure.
- Experience working with urban school students and regional professionals in a multicultural setting, producing high‑quality artistic experiences.
- Demonstrated performance competence in a variety of media.
- Evidence of advanced knowledge in art pedagogy.
- Strong belief in arts integration.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Assume responsibility for art instruction in individual, small group, and classroom settings.
- Create an environment conducive to learning.
- Employ instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures.
- Maintain fairness and order in the classroom.
- Collaborate with other art specialists and classroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary units.
- Serve as an art resource person to classroom teachers.
- Work with specialists on school‑wide programs and projects.
- Plan a program of study that meets students’ needs and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the building administrator.
- Participate in appropriate staff development.
- Assist in procuring community and business partnerships.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Accept responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Report to and carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator.
