The Akron Board of Education announces an anticipated opening for an Elementary Dean of Students. Application must be made electronically through the online application. Qualifications:

Required:

Ohio Elementary Principal License;
Current Ohio Teaching License;
Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience, and/or previous building administrator experience. Desired: A commitment to working with students, professionals and community members in a multi-cultural setting;
Knowledge of positive behavior supports and discipline procedures;
Knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy of involving school-level employees in a process of site-based decision-making.

Position

Description:

Assists the principal in the general administration of the school;
Temporarily assumes the responsibility of the principal when so directed;
Assists with administering school regulations regarding attendance;
Assists in leading school climate initiatives;
Assists with ordering supplies, books and equipment, conducting inventories and maintaining records;
Assists the principal in completing school forms for central office and State Department of Education;
Confers with non-professional staff on matters that relate to the daily operation of the school;
Assists the principal with staff meetings;
Promotes effective community relationships; and Reports to and carries out any other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
