Position: 5th Grade Intervention Specialist, 2026-27 School Year

Employer: Julie Billiart Schools Akron (campuses in Akron, Lyndhurst, Westlake and Brecksville;
Catholic, non-public schools serving children with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and social learning challenges; inclusive environment).

Job Type: Salaried, Exempt / Full-Time

Reports To: Principal, Akron

Salary: Starting at $50,000 per year; steps based on education and years of service

Overview: The Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth. This role involves organizing and implementing an instructional program that aligns with Julie Billiart Schools and Diocese of Cleveland policies and working collaboratively in a co-teach model with another Intervention Specialist as lead teachers of the classroom.

Required Qualifications and Skillsets
  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license or in the process of obtaining
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with students with ADHD, autism, or other learning challenges
  • Skilled in differentiating education and strategies for improved executive functioning
  • Ability to implement social and behavioral strategies for teens
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Proficient communication with parents and colleagues
  • Flexible thinker; able to adjust in the moment
  • Enthusiastic, driven, and independent
  • Experience with educational data collection and Excel data management
Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences using varied materials and resources
  • Develop schemes of work and detailed lesson plans
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Prepare classroom for activities
  • Identify and select instructional resources and methods, including relevant technology, to meet students’ varying needs and support instruction
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development
  • Assign and provide feedback on student assignments
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and development
  • Update records as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Prepare reports on students and activities and communicate information to relevant stakeholders
  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies
  • Apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary
  • Participate in level, school and parent meetings
  • Attend professional development meetings as required by the Principal
  • Write professional development goals as required by the LPDC
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject area, teaching resources and methods; adjust instructional plans accordingly
  • Write IEPs, IEP Progress Reports, and Service Plans as required by state law
  • Other duties as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to speak, stand, talk, walk, sit, see and hear (corrected or uncorrected)
  • Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Supervision Received: Reports to and is evaluated by the Principal.
Direct Reports: None.
