The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Culinary Arts Instructor, Job Code 006, Time Schedule 380 (190 days), Salary TBD. Extended time may be required before and/or after the school year for this position which would be compensated at the hourly extended time rate. Collective Bargaining Unit- AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

- Required:
You must meet one of the following licensure requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts with evidence of at least two (2) years of recent/related work experience; OR
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts with evidence of at least three (3) years of recent/related work experience; OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and evidence of at least five (5) years of recent work experience in Hospitality or Culinary Arts.
- a valid Ohio resident educator, professional, permanent, or five-year CTE license;
- A Baccalaureate degree
- Passing score on the FCS content-knowledge exam
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of the content-knowledge exam and issuance of an FCS supplemental teaching license.
- New Hires working under the supplemental license will need to complete at least 2 years of mentored teaching in FCS.

- Experience teaching the Culinary Arts CTE Pathway Course Objectives and professional/employability skills at the secondary level.
- Five years of professional culinary or food service management experience.
- Experience in leading and guiding a team of people.
- A commitment to annually updating educational and trade skills.
- A commitment to working with students, professionals, and community members in a multicultural setting.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
Description:
- Provide instruction in the Four Course sequenced Culinary Arts pathway and oversee all CTE-related programming and state-reported metrics.
- Plan and deliver learning experiences that advance the learning of each individual student, showing written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor;
- Design authentic learning experiences for students to learn core knowledge, 21st century skills, and literacies, through, but not limited to, collaboration, problem-based learning, inquiry, and integration of curriculum;
- Work with the Office of College and Career Academies and your Academy's Advisory Board to design, organize, and deliver skill-training program as outlined by the Quality Program Rubric.
- Assist all students to meet or exceed 21st-century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards;
- Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies for each student's academic growth;
- Assist in the development of courses' curriculum outlines, guides, and graded course of study utilizing the appropriate standards for the program in accordance with the guidelines of the Ohio Department of Education.
- Engage community and business partners as resources in curriculum development and student products.
- Uses technology to enhance instruction and develop student content knowledge and skills so students know how to learn, think critically, solve problems, use information, communicate, innovate, create, and collaborate;
- Uses continuous, authentic, and appropriate assessment and evaluation measures that are evidence-based and use them to improve instruction and student learning, and for feedback, including progress reports;
