Location

This position is located at the First Energy Headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

This position is responsible to oversee and coordinate the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of company facilities and assets. This role is responsible for managing support services staff and contractors, optimizing resources, and ensuring compliance with company standards, labor agreements, government regulations, and safety requirements to operate, maintain, and repair company assets to achieve maximum useful life and safe operation. This position determines the most effective use of employees, contractors, equipment, and materials to maintain facilities and operations including mechanical and electrical equipment, structures, and grounds, etc.

The position is accountable for developing, managing, and monitoring the facilities operating budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources, evaluating expenditures, forecasting future financial needs, and ensuring that all facility-related work is performed within approved financial parameters. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills are essential to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective facility operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervising operations and maintenance requirements of the assigned facilities in support of consistent operations and practices across all First Energy buildings.
  • Directing performance of work assignments for the locations assigned including breakdown maintenance, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, room set‑ups, service requests, jurisdictional inspections, and others as needed.
  • Ensuring preventative maintenance and testing occurs as scheduled for facility equipment and systems.
  • Owner of and responsible for all financial aspects of facilities operations, including budgeting, performance monitoring, accrual management, forecasting, cost control, compliance, and analyzing and correcting variances.
  • Utilizing Facilities’ work management systems to ensure compliance with procedures, practices, standards to complete projects efficiently and timely, to assure value added services with high customer satisfaction in support of First Energy’s business units.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations – building and life safety codes, OSHA, EPA, NEC, NFPA, etc. This includes Facility Disaster Recovery Plans and Emergency Evacuation procedures as well as supporting required fire drills.
  • Actively promoting First Energy’s Leading with Safety, demonstrating a commitment to work in accordance with the Accident Prevention Handbook, safe work practices, construction standards, and rules.
  • Implementing and administering safety programs and providing documentation of safety incidents and activities, including safety recognition and feedback to team members.
  • Supervising, training, and developing personnel both represented and non‑represented employees.
  • Coordinating and monitoring work performed by outside contractors.
  • Providing on‑site direction of minor repair projects. Assuring that work is performed in accordance with contracts.
