Scientist, Materials Engineer, Research Scientist

As a Staff Scientist, you will focus on developing innovative tire materials by applying chemical principles, exploring structure-property relationships, and collaborating with suppliers. You will also translate performance needs like traction and durability into material designs that deliver differentiated results.

• Develop new material technologies that optimize performance while balancing cost and environmental impact.
• Design and execute laboratory studies to evaluate material technologies, interpreting results based on the underlying chemistry and physics.
• Collaborate closely with suppliers, design teams, and applied development groups to ensure alignment and successful technology integration.
• Provide on-site support during plant trials to validate material performance and assist in troubleshooting.
• Communicate findings and recommendations effectively across technical and non-technical audiences to support decision-making and project advancement.

• PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or similar field with a preference for Synthetic, Organic, or Organometallic Chemistry degrees.
• Experience in new material and chemical development, ideally within the automotive, tire industry, and/or experience in a research and development organization.

• Experience in elastomeric composite design and formulation.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams.
• Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills.
• Be open‑minded, optimistic, and collaborative, with a strong sense of urgency and initiative.
