Transportation & Infrastructure | Southern Search Exclusive

We're conducting a search on behalf of a specialized, employee-focused civil engineering firm with a strong and growing presence in Ohio and Kentucky. This is a technical leadership opportunity — not a management track, not a business development quota. If you love bridge engineering and want to do more of it at a higher level, with the autonomy to shape how it gets done, this is worth your time.

The

Opportunity

This firm has built a steady backlog of diverse transportation projects by doing things the right way — technical excellence, quality, and responsiveness to public clients and local governments. As a result of that success, they're ready to bring on a Senior Bridge Engineer who can serve as the technical backbone of the bridge practice. You'll lead projects, set the standard for quality, and help develop the next generation of engineers around you.

This is a role for someone who takes real pride in their craft and wants an environment that reflects that.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as lead bridge engineer across a wide variety of project types — major and minor bridge design from start to finish
  • Act as Engineer of Record for bridge projects, owning technical accountability end-to-end
  • Review and check bridge designs, inspection reports, load ratings, and plan sets and specifications
  • Develop and implement standard practices and QC procedures for bridge projects
  • Participate in project pursuits by contributing preliminary investigations and technical approaches for proposals
  • Monitor scope, schedule, and budget compliance on bridge tasks
  • Mentor and develop junior staff as the firm continues to grow
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering
  • PE license required
  • 11–20+ years of bridge design experience
  • ODOT Level 2 Bridge Design Prequalification — or comparable experience with the ability to obtain it
  • Proven, hands‑on experience across all phases of bridge design projects
  • Comfortable working independently preparing engineering reports, calculations, and overseeing plan development
  • Experience with proposals, plan packages, and technical reports
  • Familiarity with Open Bridge Designer, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR, LPile, and similar software
  • Strong communicator with a team‑oriented approach and a genuine willingness to mentor others
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
What's on the Table

This firm puts its people first — and the benefits reflect that. You'll receive 100% employer‑paid medical insurance for yourself, plus dental, vision, and disability coverage. Additional perks include competitive PTO, 401(k) with matching contributions, two weeks paid maternity/paternity leave, standard office hours with flexibility for life demands, and a 4-day in‑office / 1-day remote schedule.
