We are seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced radiation detection and nuclear measurement systems. This role requires a self-driven technical professional who can work independently in customer environments while delivering exceptional service and support.
Primary Responsibilities- Install, configure, calibrate, and validate advanced radiation detection and measurement equipment at customer locations.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and integrated system issues while identifying root causes and implementing corrective solutions.
- Work closely with engineering and technical support teams to address complex equipment problems and improve overall system performance.
- Conduct customer training sessions and provide operational guidance for installed systems and software applications.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, including maintenance records, repair logs, and field service reports.
- Deliver professional customer support and maintain positive client relationships during on-site and remote engagements.
- Assist with internal troubleshooting, testing, and repair activities as required.
- Provide remote technical support through phone, email, and virtual communication tools.
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and industry regulations at all times.
- Strong technical aptitude with experience or education in electronics, mechanical systems, nuclear technology, physics, or related technical disciplines.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized and detail‑oriented with proficiency in computer systems and technical reporting.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team setting.
- Commitment to following established safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Willingness to travel regionally up to 70% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience supporting radiation detection instrumentation or spectroscopy systems.
- Familiarity with gamma spectroscopy, alpha/beta counting systems, and radiation monitoring technologies.
- Knowledge of radiation detection methods and nuclear physics fundamentals.
- Experience with technical software applications, databases, reporting systems, or data management tools.
- Working knowledge of SQL databases and reporting platforms is advantageous.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair systems at the modular or component level.
- Military nuclear power program experience is strongly preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or another related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent technical certifications, military training, or hands‑on field experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- 1–3 years of experience in field service, technical maintenance, system support, or customer‑facing technical roles preferred.
- Proven customer service experience supporting technical products, systems, or equipment.
