Responsibilities
- Manage the facility hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, transportation, and disposal processes and activities, including waste profiles, inspections, container labeling, manifesting, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Collect and analyze samples and perform necessary testing to maintain compliance with environmental permits.
- Operate and maintain the Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program, ensuring required testing and documentation.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports, plans, and permit applications in a timely manner, keeping all required documents current and implemented.
- Provide technical support on environmental regulations, maintain recordkeeping, and support incident management, training, and process safety initiatives.
- Collect and record data to support the facility environmental systems for internal and external reporting.
- Investigate and document environmental incidents, ensure corrective actions are completed within appropriate time frames.
- Conduct employee environmental training, track completion, and work with facility management to meet regulatory and company training requirements.
- Assist the Site Safety Lead in developing, implementing, and testing emergency response plans and procedures.
- Participate in process safety efforts, including Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and Process Safety System Reviews (PSSR).
- Unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety science, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of experience as an environmental specialist in an industrial setting, preferably chemical manufacturing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Strong ability to drive processes and projects to completion.
- Capability to work with state and federal agencies.
- Additional experience in chemical manufacturing or advanced materials environment.
- Knowledge of environmental permit application and renewal processes.
- Experience with regulatory recordkeeping and reporting systems.
