Staff Transmission Line Engineer
The Transmission & Distribution team is seeking a Staff Transmission Line Engineer to support our expanding operations in the Akron, Columbus, and St. Louis offices. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will take ownership of their work and contribute to the success of both the team and our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design high- and extra-high-voltage (69500 kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
- Develop detailed construction packages, including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation assembly drawings.
- Prepare project specifications and design criteria documents.
- Provide technical support and oversight during field construction activities.
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships while offering technical mentorship to junior engineers.
- Contribute to the advancement of design standards and best practices within the team.
- Support other engineering tasks as required.
- Occasional travel to project or client sites may be necessary.
- Experience with HVDC systems is considered a plus.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a Bachelors in Engineering Technology with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- A Masters degree in Civil Engineering may substitute for one year of professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of transmission line design experience.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with project scheduling and budgeting.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Consulting or utility experience preferred.
