Position Overview

CARIAN is seeking a Project Controls Analyst to support large-scale utility capital programs by providing strong cost control, forecasting, and reporting capabilities. This role is highly analytical and execution-focused, supporting multiple Project Managers simultaneously and ensuring financial, schedule, and project data remain accurate, integrated, and decision-ready.

The Project Controls Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining financial discipline, schedule alignment, and reporting integrity across active programs. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in data-driven environments and enjoys being the backbone of strong project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Support 5–6 Project Managers concurrently across projects in various phases of design and construction.

Develop, implement, and maintain internal and external cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts.

Provide accurate and timely updates to cost reports and project forecasts.

Perform quality checks and inspections on all project controls deliverables.

Compare project schedules to financial data to ensure alignment with project timelines.

Integrate schedule data and other project data sources in Excel using formulas, pivot tables, macros, and related tools.

Analyze project controls reports, present findings, and provide recommendations to project controls leadership.

Track budgets against Purchase Orders and Subcontracts.

Review upstream (prime contract) and downstream (PO and subcontract) change orders for accuracy and alignment.

Manage and integrate data across multiple programs.

Serve as a technical point of contact for APMs, PMs, Lead Engineers, and Construction staff.

Support continuous improvement of project controls processes and reporting quality.

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of program delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field from an accredited program.

Minimum of 4+ years of experience in project controls, cost controls, project finance, or related roles.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and make sound, timely decisions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel capabilities strongly preferred.

Experience with SAP preferred.

Ability to travel as required; valid driver’s license required.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
