Role descriptionArcadis is looking for an experienced Senior Hydraulic Modeler with strong technical leadership and project delivery experience to join our Resilience Water Team. This self‑motivated and independent professional will apply technical knowledge of hydraulics, water distribution master planning, computer modeling, and data analytics as part of local project teams developing innovative solutions across the nation. The position offers high potential for growth, including leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, supporting client relationships, and contributing to project pursuits and strategic growth.
Roleaccountabilities
The role leverages leadership and technical expertise to support project teams in developing water distribution system models and master plans. Responsibilities include engineering activities related to water distribution hydraulics—such as pumping evaluations, flow test studies, water quality investigations, and system planning—and the development of hydraulic and water quality models. The incumbent will lead distribution system analyses, apply data analytics and GIS tools, and serve as a senior technical resource to provide modeling‑based insights.
Duties also encompass preparation, review, and quality assurance of technical reports, memoranda, and master planning deliverables to ensure high‑quality, client‑ready outputs.
- Lead client coordination and presentations, communicate technical findings to diverse stakeholders, and support trusted advisor relationships with clients.
- Support or lead scope development, fee estimation, and technical approach definition for proposals and pursuits.
- Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.
- Maintain and increase professional knowledge by participating regularly with industry associations, attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and quality oversight to junior engineers and modelers. Manage or support multiple concurrent projects, including task delivery, coordination, budget awareness, and schedule adherence.
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, and other reasons depending on project staffing needs.
Required Qualifications- 8+ years of experience in hydraulic modeling, water system planning, or related engineering work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field; a PE license is required.
- MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Experience with wastewater collection system modeling, water quality modeling, pump station evaluation, storage analysis, or transient evaluations.
- Prior experience with an engineering consulting firm, municipality, or similar setting and serving as a task lead or project manager on water system planning or modeling projects.
- Additional modeling software experience (Info Works, Hammer, Aqua Twin, etc.) and programming using Python or an equivalent language.
Strong hydraulic modeling and engineering experience, proficiency with Autodesk Info Water Pro and/or Bentley WaterGEMS, GIS experience using ArcGIS Pro, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present to stakeholders, collaborate with team members, and engage with clients is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and active participation in professional associations are expected.

The package also includes nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $98,000 – $168,000, depending on experience, education, budget, and location.
