We are looking for an Air Quality Engineer to join our Air Quality Program on a full-time basis (35 hours per week, Monday through Friday). In this vital role, you will analyze emission sources, assess permit applications, and track regulatory compliance to actively improve regional air quality. By overseeing the execution of state and federal environmental mandates, this position offers a rewarding career path for precise, community-minded individuals dedicated to public service.

Primary

Duties
  • Execute engineering initiatives focused on reducing air pollution to safeguard public health.
  • Analyze and manage Title V installation, and operational permit applications for emission sources to guarantee total alignment with state and federal legal frameworks.
  • Conduct on-site facility inspections and ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Author, analyze, and manage technical reports and official correspondence.
  • Conduct facility complaint investigations and document subsequent findings.
  • Observe emissions compliance tests and review relevant emissions data reports.
  • Build and submit enforcement cases when federal or state air quality violations occur.
  • Create educational presentations and represent the agency at public forums.
Compensation & Total Rewards

This is a full-time, exempt position with a standard 35-hour work week.

  • Compensation: $59,841.60 annually (equivalent to $32.88 per hour working 35 hours per week).
  • Retirement:

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, industrial, petroleum, civil, electrical, or other related engineering field preferred. Bachelor's Degrees in related technical fields with at least 30 semester hours in engineering-related coursework plus one year of related experience may also be considered.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability, and liability insurance required.
  • Ability to pass Federal Reference Method 9 to become a visible emissions evaluator.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) in the State of Ohio is preferred.
