Process Control Engineer

We are working with a leading international manufacturing organisation to recruit a Process Control Engineer for their production site in Akron, OH.

This is a key technical role, providing expertise across process control, instrumentation, and electrical systems to support safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to 24/7 manufacturing operations across process control systems, instrumentation, DCS, and PLCs
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues using data analysis and engineering expertise
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across control and electrical systems
• Support production and maintenance teams to improve yield, efficiency, and reliability
• Lead installation, commissioning, and startup of instrumentation and automation projects, including capital projects
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting all functional requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support wider mechanical and process projects
• Develop project scopes and cost estimates, select contractors, and manage delivery through to completion
• Interpret and modify P&IDs and electrical drawings to support engineering activities

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an industrial manufacturing or chemical processing environment
• Strong experience with PLCs (Rockwell), DCS (Foxboro), and HMI systems
• Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial process instrumentation
• Ability to read, interpret, and modify P&IDs and electrical schematics
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
