DescriptionThe CAD Drafter Substation P&C will function as a key member of a technical team alongside Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers within the Distribution team supporting First Energy distribution work. This position will be responsible for the creation and revision of technical drawings with an emphasis on pole replacement, distribution design, and electrical distribution projects. This is an on-site role based in Akron, OH (Columbus, OH considered).
Responsibilities- Assist with preparing new drawings and revising existing engineering drawings of basic components from specific sketches or layouts.
- Responsible for adhering to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to ANSI standard drafting practices.
- Experience with CAD, Bluebeam, ACADE is a plus.
- Basic knowledge and epxerience in Microsoft Office programs
- Support field data collection and permit pulling depending on project locality.
- Manage multiple concurrent distribution projects with the ability to work independently toward weekly deadlines.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Associate's degree in CAD related program or specialized CAD certification plus 2 years of relevant drafting experience.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience with electrical schematics, circuit design, and substation project estimating.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
- Growth mindset, not afraid to leverage AI tools and emerging technology.
- Innovative thinker with the ability to become a technical leader quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
