As a Gas Distribution and Storage Engineering Manager based in Akron, OH, you will play a pivotal role in crafting the future of our engineering services. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve engineering excellence and contribute to the growth and reliability of our operations.
What You Will Do- Lead and develop an engineering team with clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.
- Ensure engineering standards, practices, and controls comply with applicable codes, regulations, and company requirements.
- Drive engineering excellence through technical governance, risk‑based decision‑making, continuous improvement, and timely technical reviews.
- Provide engineering expertise, mentorship, and reliable support for operations, capital projects, compliance programs, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor workload, resources, budgets, contracts, and performance metrics to deliver effective, efficient engineering services.
- Strengthen safety, reliability, integrity, and business performance by managing risks, advancing innovation, ensuring compliance, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
- Actively participate in key industry committees and associations to lead change and ensure Enbridge’s and broader industry goals are met.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university.
- 10+ years of directly related engineering, technical, operational, or project management experience in the energy industry, with progressive managerial experience.
- Professional Engineer designation preferred.
- Proven leader of engineering and technical teams, with experience in utility, pipeline, facilities, automation, operations, integrity, or related industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, regulations, and industry practices, combined with sound business insight and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated expertise in team development, collaborator management, project and financial oversight, along with strong communication skills, influencing capabilities, and relationship‑building across diverse audiences.
- Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing.
- Visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print).
- Hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
- Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
- Understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions.
- Organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
- Organize and prioritize work schedule on a short‑term basis.
- Make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area.
- Understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports, and communicate with individuals via telephone.
- Office environment.
- Occasional travel (10–15%). Ability to travel and work on projects throughout Canada and the United States, with potential for overseas travel. Valid passport is required.
Ranges from $143,000 – $193,000 USD for U.S. locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.
