As an Accounting Manager – Company Owned you will be responsible for managing closing and reporting activities for Retail and Commercial Truck Service Centers (CTSC) and overseeing U.S. Company Owned accounting operations, including reconciliations, financial statement reviews, and journal entries. This role ensures compliance with GAAP and corporate policies while supporting 10-Q, 10-K filings, government requirements, and internal financial analysis. The position plays a key role in SOX compliance, intercompany controls, and process improvement projects aimed at enhancing financial performance and operational efficiency.
Additionally, the manager collaborates on implementing new procedures to meet business objectives and maintain regulatory standards.
- Manage monthly closing duties for the Company Owned businesses. Act as the primary point‑of‑contact for the Retail Finance team, review/approve journal entries and reconciliations, support team members to achieve closing deadlines, and reconcile relevant systems.
- As the accounting subject matter expert, support/advise business operational functions on how their projects and process changes impact Company Owned (and possibly other Goodyear entity) financials. Evaluate and implement procedures/processes to comply with new Corporate policy and GAAP.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in the execution of process and internal controls, particularly those related to leases and intercompany transactions/relationships.
- Hire/Develop associates by transferring knowledge of operations, financial concepts, and business issues. Utilize management tools to facilitate development and provide associates with performance feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 7 or more years of finance and/or accounting experience.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and organization skills.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX.
- Ability to understand complex data/issues and think outside the box.
- Organized with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Competency with computer systems: database, spreadsheet, ERP‑based financial systems (SAP preferred), interest and reporting tools (such as Essbase and Hyperion, and Microsoft Office).
- People management skills – Desired.
- Experience with intercompany transactions – Desired.
