Why This Role Matters
As a Manager of Federal Tax, you will play a critical role in supporting Goodyear’s North American tax strategy by ensuring compliance with U.S. federal, international, state, and Canadian tax laws while minimizing tax risk and supporting overall business performance. In this role, you will help drive accurate financial reporting, support cross‑border tax initiatives, and partner with internal stakeholders to influence strategic business decisions.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead and support U.S. federal, international, state, and Canadian income tax compliance activities for North American operations
- Review and analyze financial data to prepare and validate book‑to‑tax adjustments and ensure accurate tax reporting
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of tax compliance processes and controls
- Ensure foreign subsidiary tax filings and reporting requirements are completed accurately and in compliance with applicable laws
- Support IRS, state, and Canadian tax audits by analyzing inquiries, preparing responses, and defending company tax positions
- Assist with transfer pricing and cross-border documentation related to U.S. and Canadian intercompany transactions
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, reconciliations, and forecasts in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Monitor and communicate the impact of tax law changes and regulatory developments on the business
- Partner with business leaders and external advisors on tax planning initiatives, organizational structuring, and strategic projects
- Support initiatives focused on improving cash flow and optimizing tax efficiency across North America
- Mentor and develop team members, including direct reports and interns, while supporting succession planning and talent development efforts
- Foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment aligned with business objectives and company values
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10–15 years of progressive tax experience within a large multinational corporation and/or public accounting environment
- Strong experience with U.S. federal corporate tax compliance, including international tax concepts and reporting requirements
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP tax accounting principles, including deferred tax accounting
- Strong tax research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience supporting audits and managing tax authority inquiries
- Proficiency with tax and financial systems, including Corptax, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, complex environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build credibility across teams
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including coaching, mentoring, and developing talent
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence and professionalism
- CPA designation
- Experience with state and Canadian income tax compliance
- Experience supporting transfer pricing and cross‑border tax documentation
- Experience leading or supporting tax planning and organizational structuring initiatives
