Authorizations Coordinator
Position Summary
The Authorizations Coordinator is responsible for securing and managing payer authorizations to ensure timely start of care and uninterrupted services for clients receiving non-medical home care. This role plays a key part in supporting agency growth by maintaining accurate tracking systems and preventing authorization-related service gaps.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and track initial and ongoing authorizations from Medicaid waiver programs and managed care organizations.
- Verify eligibility prior to start of care.
- Monitor approved hours, units, and expiration dates to prevent lapses.
- Submit extension and modification requests as needed.
- Communicate authorization updates to intake and scheduling teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR system.
- Assist with audits and compliance reporting.
- Experience in home care, healthcare administration, billing, or managed care preferred.
- Familiarity with Medicaid waiver programs strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
