Position SummaryRegistered Neurodiagnostic Technologist (ND Tech) operates electronic equipment which graphically records electrical impulses generated in the brain to obtain data for the evaluation of brain function for EEG studies and may assist with NCS/EMGs.
Responsibilities- Collect patients' medical information as needed to customize tests.
- Accurately mark, measure, and apply electrodes using the 10-20 system in an appropriate amount of time.
- Perform high‑quality standard EEGs using technically adequate criterion.
- Indicate artifacts or interferences derived from sources outside of the brain, such as poor electrode contact or patient movement on EEG recordings.
- Record, review, annotate, and organize EEG data.
- Understand and apply knowledge of EEG to provide excellent patient care and customer service to patients and families.
- Maintain diagnostic equipment—calibrate, troubleshoot, and correct malfunctions as needed.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients served regardless of age.
- Work with department management as appropriate to ensure attainment of departmental goals and objectives.
- Participate in quality and continuing education initiatives.
- Participate in operative monitoring of patients having invasive electrodes implanted.
- Demonstrate acquired knowledge of subjects pertaining to neurodiagnostic testing.
- Other duties as required.
- Experience in EEG testing and procedures is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required; EPIC software is preferred.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited Electroneuro diagnostic Program, or at least 2 years of on‑the‑job EEG training is required. - Certification: EEG registration (R. EEG T.) is required. Healthcare provider BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
- Years of relevant experience: 2 to 5 years is preferred.
