Monday - Friday Evenings, 10:30PM - 7AM, Every other weekend/holiday rotation
Onsite Akron, OH
Summary:
The Sterile Processing Specialist is certified in the process and is responsible for a combination of the following functions: decontamination, cleaning, assembly and sterilization of all instruments, and inventory control of Sterile Processing and Operating Room [OR] supplies.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterilization of all instruments and equipment.
* Responsible for inventory control of Sterile Processing and OR supplies.
* Must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization, and regulatory standards biological monitoring.
* Ability to operate all sterilization equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.
* Participates in educational efforts for the department, unit, and hospital.
* Participates in various hospital activities as appropriate and as directed by the Manager.
* Resource to new staff.
* Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
* Experience in Sterile Processing is Required.
* Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
* Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
* Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
* Certification: CSPDT or CRCST (introductory certification) required.
* Years of relevant experience:
One (1) year required.
* Must be a subject matter expert in 2 specialty areas.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to push and pull carts containing medical supplies and instruments.
* Ability to stand for extended periods during shift hours.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
* Exposure to biohazardous materials and sharp instruments; adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols is required.
