Pediatric Psychologist

We are seeking qualified pediatric psychologists to join various specialty teams at Akron Children's Hospital:

Specialty Areas & Responsibilities
  • Gastroenterology and Colorectal Surgery – Provide outpatient and inpatient consultation and intervention services for GI-related diagnoses, join multidisciplinary clinics, and develop a colorectal psychology program.
  • Epilepsy – Collaborate with neurology and neurosurgery, focus on adjustment and adherence, provide inpatient/outpatient care, and develop psychology involvement in epilepsy clinics.
  • Rheumatology – Develop an integrated psychology program, screen children with chronic rheumatologic conditions, provide consultation in multidisciplinary clinics, and build relationships with the medical team.
  • Nephrology – Offer collaborative care for youth with kidney-related conditions, address medical adherence and coping, contribute to pre‑transplant evaluations, and improve quality of life.
  • Feeding Disorders Program – Join the interdisciplinary feeding team, conduct evaluations, and treat feeding difficulties such as ARFID and PFD; engage in program development and research.
  • Behavioral Sleep Medicine – Evaluate and treat behavioral sleep concerns in the AASM‑accredited sleep center, collaborate with medical and behavioral health teams, and address sleep quality issues.
Medical Coping Clinic

The Medical Coping Clinic provides generalist pediatric psychology services in regional areas. Psychologists establish clinics across Ohio, offer general pediatric psychology care, and may provide leadership opportunities, supervision to masters-level therapists, and engage in program development, quality improvement, and clinical research.

Requirements

Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical, counseling, or educational psychology from an APA‑accredited program, completion of an APA‑accredited internship (child or pediatric emphasis preferred), license eligibility in the State of Ohio, and strong interest in evidence-based pediatric psychology.
