This full-time, on-site Substance Abuse Counselor role is based in Akron, OH at our Womens Center. The counselor will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group counseling sessions for clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health needs. Daily responsibilities include coordinating case management services, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to support continuity of care.

The role also involves educating clients and families on relapse prevention strategies, monitoring progress, and adjusting treatment plans as needed. The counselor will contribute to a structured, supportive environment that promotes recovery, accountability, and client empowerment.

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Treatment Planning and Case Management to design, implement, and coordinate individualized care.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Chemical Dependency and Relapse Prevention to support clients through all stages of recovery.
• Candidates should possess experience in Mental Health care to address co-occurring disorders and holistic client needs.
• Relevant licensure or certification (e.g., LCDC, LICDC, LSW, LPC, LPCC, or equivalent) and adherence to state regulatory standards.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Strong communication, documentation, and crisis intervention skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice.
• Experience in behavioral health or addiction treatment settings and familiarity with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, MI, or DBT is beneficial.
• Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and person-centered care, and willingness to participate in ongoing training and supervision.
