Position Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with physician orders and the established plan of care. The PTA assists patients in improving mobility, reducing pain, restoring function, and achieving their rehabilitation goals while ensuring a safe and positive care experience.

Key Responsibilities Patient Care Provide skilled physical therapy treatments according to the Physical Therapist's plan of care.

Assist patients in improving strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and functional independence.

Implement therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and other prescribed interventions.

Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate progress or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.

Help patients restore function and maintain optimal physical performance.

Patient & Family Education Educate patients and caregivers on therapy techniques, safety precautions, and home exercise programs.

Instruct patients and family members on the proper use of assistive devices and equipment, including walkers, wheelchairs, canes, crutches, braces, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.

Encourage patient independence and promote safe mobility practices.

Care Coordination Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.

Participate in case conferences and care planning meetings.

Support positive patient outcomes through effective communication and teamwork.

Documentation & Compliance Complete clinical documentation accurately and timely in accordance with agency policies, Medicare requirements, and federal regulations.

Document treatments, patient progress, assessments, and educational activities.

Maintain compliance with professional standards and company policies.

Participate in chart audits and quality assurance activities as requested.

Professional Responsibilities Attend required meetings, in-service trainings, and continuing education programs.

Participate in orientation and training of new employees as assigned.

Maintain active PTA licensure and required certifications.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
