Position: Valet Drivers/AKRON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Guest Service Associate

The Guest Service Associate is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly, and efficient manner. They handle parking and retrieval of guest vehicles, assist with luggage, manage billing, and ensure guests receive helpful directions and assistance.

Compensation

Hourly base pay range $15-$17 per hour plus daily cash tips.

Work Schedule

Open availability Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with all guests, co-workers, and clients.
  • Greet guests within five feet and use proper salutations and last names.
  • Practice proper phone etiquette.
  • Park and retrieve vehicles safely, driving slowly and cautiously.
  • Assist guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed, and open vehicle and hotel doors.
  • Provide guests with directions, taxi reservations, and other inquiries, and share information about facility amenities and local attractions.
  • Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival.
  • Issue claim checks after receiving vehicle keys and collect claim checks when returning keys.
  • Maintain accurate ticket information, including key tag, guest folio, vehicle location, damage survey, and claim check receipt.
  • Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when required.
Scope & Authority

The job is routine, follows established procedures, and requires decisions within operational instructions and departmental guidelines. Incumbents have control only over resources available to them.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Employees must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, run, walk, handle objects up to 100 lbs occasionally (50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly), and perform tasks such as climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Visual acuity for close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus is required. Work is mostly outdoors in extreme heat and cold;

employees must be able to tolerate weather changes. Travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license for the state of employment or a license within commuting distance.
  • At least one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Ability to read and write standard English, comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Basic arithmetic skills (add/subtract three-digit numbers, multiply and divide with tens and hundreds, and perform calculations with American currency).
  • Understanding of 24-hour and military time systems and rate calculations for time passed.
  • Desirable: ability to operate a manual transmission, perform parallel parking.
