Description
Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Tracks hours worked by all apprentices. Ensures apprentices receive step 2 increases after 1550 hours.
- Maintains a numeric ratio of journey-persons to apprentices that ensures proper supervision, training, and safety (one journey-person to every eight apprentices).
- Sends reminders to the journey-persons to complete evaluations timely.
- Reports and logs cancelled apprenticeships immediately.
- Makes recommendations to the OSAC (Ohio State Apprenticeship Council) upon apprentice’s successful completion of their apprenticeship.
- Keeps thorough records of each apprentice’s participation, including the hours worked, the nature of the apprentice, and the results of progress evaluations.
- Maintains records for every apprentice that enters the program within the state of Ohio.
- Reports to the OSAC every apprentice enrollment and every change in the status of the apprenticeship in an accurate and timely manner.
- Pre-screens apprentices via scheduled phone interviews using standard department questions. Forwards qualified candidates to appropriate hiring manager for an interview.
Shift:9am-5pm (Monday - Friday)
QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent required. Formal education in Human Resources preferred. Two (2) years administrative and/or secretarial training required. Exceptional organizational skills required. Strong computer skills including “WORD”, Excel, other Microsoft applications, and database experience required. Exceptional interpersonal skills required. Prior experience working in a human resources department strongly desired; must have prior experience working in an office setting. Must be able to carry out assignments accurately, organize time well, and take initiative to make improvements in job processes.
Valid Ohio Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance. Must have the ability to effectively work with Agency employees and outside contacts.
