Global Counsel, Marketing, Race & Blimp Operations
The Global Counsel, Marketing, Race & Blimp Operations provides legal guidance and subject matter expertise for Global Sales & Marketing activities across markets and supports other business units with technology, innovation, procurement and marketing-related issues as needed. This position plays a key role in proactively managing risks associated with marketing campaigns and activities within scope, through training and coaching, as well as the creation and implementation of efficient governance processes and standards in assigned areas.
ResponsibilitiesBroad Business and Functional
Experience:
Demonstrated technical expertise in primary areas of responsibilityMonitors legal developments and trends and makes recommendations to management on how to respond
Experience working on international projects and matters
Understands the connection between the business objective and the role in achieving that objective
Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and standards across the organization
Customer-Facing (Including Internal Customers) Role:
Experience in building relationships with in-scope leaders and their direct reports, outside counsels, regulators, agencies, and similar third partiesCollaborates cross-functionally with marketing, racing, and other teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business decisions and strategies
Advises on marketing, race and Blimp operations legal aspects globally. This includes ensuring compliance with advertising, racing and competition laws, and drafting and negotiating marketing-related contracts like promotional agreements and sponsor ships
Business Acumen:
Demonstrates consistent understanding of business drivers in the application of legal expertise (gaining a broad knowledge within the function)Oversees contracts and negotiations for marketing, race and Blimp operations globally, coordinates global contracts/initiatives, facilitating local and expert support, as needed
Reviews NA and US-based global marketing agreements (including marketing procurement & digital)
Advises on and manages the legal risks associated with in-scope activities, including potential litigation and reputational damage
Track Record of Delivering Results:
Contributes to Law Department strategic initiatives and projects in assigned areasPrimary point-of-contact for racing standards and technical regulations
Manage budgets (i.e., case, matter, project, tenders, outside counsel)
Develops/Maintains global marketing policies, templates, and playbooks to drive cross-functional efficiencies
Develops and provides training and lessons learned to minimize future risk to the company
Key
Experience:
10 or more years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal departmentDemonstrated leadership experience
Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and a member of the Bar (no need to be state specific)
