Overview
Office of Information Services (OIS) works to support the business functions and delivery of health, human, and employment services through information technology. OIS is one of the largest and most complex IT organizations within Ohio state government. The Enterprise Modernization Manager is part of the Enterprise Architecture team that guides the agency's long‑range technology direction.
What You Will DoThe Enterprise Modernization Manager serves as a strategic advisor and technical leader within OIS, providing guidance on enterprise standards, emerging technologies, data, analytics, and automation. The role involves partnering with executives, administrators, technical specialists, and business leaders to evaluate new technologies and shape agency‑wide strategies for AI/ML and RPA. The manager leads development of enterprise architecture artifacts, supports RFPs, evaluates modernization initiatives, and oversees automation projects.
Responsibilities- Provide technical advice and recommendations to OIS Chief Architect, administrators, and executives on enterprise information systems strategy, data initiatives, and AI adoption.
- Serve as a consultant to executives, managers, and line‑of‑business customers on information systems analysis, planning, enterprise data strategy, and emerging technology opportunities.
- Lead development and maintenance of enterprise architecture work efforts, producing architecture artifacts, standards, and roadmaps.
- Apply enterprise architecture principles to conduct high‑level enterprise analysis, design, planning, and implementation activities.
- Analyze technology market trends in AI, data platforms, and automation, providing research‑based recommendations.
- Provide architecture input for RFPs and contribute to evaluating RFPs for modernization initiatives.
- Assess business needs and priorities; advise stakeholders on technology options, risks, cost‑benefit considerations, and impacts to enterprise systems.
- Supervise assigned staff and provide direction to implement automation projects that include RPA and AI solutions.
- Keep current with emerging technologies and provide technical presentations for the organization.
Minimum qualifications options:
- Option 1: Completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science or a major that included advanced‑level programming, logic‑based mathematics, database concepts, systems analysis, and data processing concepts; 6½ years of experience commensurate with job duties; 18 months of project management experience.
- Option 2: 8½ years of experience commensurate with job duties; 18 months of project management experience.
- Option 3: 12 months as Information Technology Supervisor 3 (64119) or equivalent.
- Option 4: Up to 54 months of experience covering architecture components, strategic planning, presentations, policy & procedures, budget, cost & resource estimates, contract management; plus additional experience in word processing, internet research, email, spreadsheet use, and supervisory experience.
- Option 5: The equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Full‑time. Standard workdays Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. This position will be headquartered in one of the following locations:
Columbus, Akron, or Dayton, Ohio. Occasional travel within the state is required.
Salary is based on Ohio's E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 16. Starting salary will be the minimum step 1 ($47.90 per hour). Wages increase with step progression and annual adjustments. See the table below for step wages.
- Step 1 – $47.90 per hour – $98,800 per year (At Hire)
- Step 2 – $50.15 per hour – $104,312 per year (6 months)
- Step 3 – $52.90 per hour – $110,032 per year (18 months)
- Step 4 – $55.88 per hour – $116,230 per year (30 months)
- Step 5 – $58.94 per hour – $122,595 per year (42 months)
- Step 6 – $62.31 per hour – $129,605 per year (54 months)
- Step 7 – $64.87 per hour – $134,930 per year (66 months)
- Step 8 – $67.90 per hour – $141,232 per year (78 months)
