Immediate need for a talented Assistant GIS Specialist
. This is a 12+months contract opportunity with long‑term potential and is located in Akron, OH (Onsite). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.

Pay Range: $29 - $31.50/hour. Employee benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports development, maintenance, analysis, and management of GIS data for various projects and professional services.
  • Assists with GIS analysis, data preparation and database maintenance while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and clients to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Requires strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality GIS solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Assists with GIS analysis, data development, data collection, and mapping for client projects while supporting both internal and external project teams.
  • Assists with GIS metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey record searches, and ownership data research from a variety of sources.
  • Assists with coordinate system projections and geospatial data transformations for project deliverables.
  • Assists in creating and updating GIS maps, map layers, and geospatial databases.
  • Assists with georeferencing raster and vector datasets.
  • Supports ad‑hoc analyses and provides recommendations to help achieve business goals related to quality, billability, and utilization.
  • Assists with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of GIS deliverables to ensure compliance with client and project requirements.
  • Utilizes software applications and information from various sources (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, deeds, field notes, and other project documentation) to develop GIS maps supporting field personnel and client deliverables.
  • Regularly communicates project status with project teams and clients to support successful project execution.
  • Ensures compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and geospatial data management.
  • Hands‑on experience with GIS analysis, mapping, data collection, database maintenance, and geospatial data preparation for engineering and consulting projects (e.g., Energy Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Electric Utility).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • GIS Professional (GISP) certification or an ESRI technical certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating accuracy, reliability, sound judgment, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Basic proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 strongly preferred.
  • Travel required:

    Approximately 5%.
