Program DescriptionThe Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is looking for talented leaders to add to its global leadership depth and play a role in the current and future success of the organization. The co‑op/intern Program provides students with practical work experience in one of many diverse areas. The program allows students to gain a better understanding of the various job opportunities available throughout Goodyear.
In addition to challenging, engaging and interesting work assignments, students have the opportunity to meet and interact with students from other universities at work and outside of work. Tours of Goodyear facilities are arranged to help students learn more about the business. Goodyear leaders interact with students to help them begin to think about significant business issues and career options.
Students even have the opportunity to speak with the Goodyear Senior Leadership Team.
The Global Procurement organization works closely with all other functional areas of the business including Finance, Marketing, Manufacturing, Research and Development, and Retail to support Goodyear's activities. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
- Raw Material Sourcing and Supplier Qualification
- Global Indirect Sourcing
- Business Services Logistics
- Capital Equipment Manufacturing Services
- Business Process Excellence

Procurement uses global leverage, specialized expertise, and disciplined sourcing processes to develop and implement strategies for raw materials, equipment, goods, and services. These strategies support Goodyear’s business objectives by helping deliver cost, cash, and margin improvements; strengthening supplier relationships; expanding sustainable and resilient sourcing practices; and enabling business teams to achieve their goals. Procurement interfaces with virtually every area of the company and plays an important role in aligning stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams to create long‑term value for Goodyear.
The Global Procurement Intern program provides students with practical work experience in managing the sourcing and acquisition for Goodyear's materials, products, and services. Students will have the opportunity to work in our Direct Sourcing, Indirect Sourcing, or Business Process teams. Typical responsibilities may include reviewing the market for potential suppliers, interacting with end‑user stakeholders on requirements, working with suppliers to acquire what Goodyear needs, analyzing data for negotiation preparation, updating our pricing and payment systems, and working with suppliers to achieve Goodyear's supplier enablement and sustainability goals.
Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field (Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration or International Business majors preferred). Minimum 3.0 overall GPA preferred. Expected graduation within 1-2 years of internship. Prior intern/co‑op experience in related field preferred. Ability to self‑manage.
