Customs Import Specialist

Salary: $75,000 - $80,000

Location:

Hybrid or Remote in Akron, OH

Key Responsibilities for the Customs Import Specialist:

  • Manage U.S. import compliance activities and ensure adherence to customs regulations and internal policies.
  • Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and maintain classification accuracy.
  • Evaluate tariff and regulatory changes and assess business impact.
  • Administer Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification programs and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate customs entry processes and work closely with customs brokers to resolve import issues.
  • Support duty optimization programs, audits, compliance reviews, and trade-related reporting.

Qualifications for the Customs Import Specialist:

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) credential required.
  • Strong expertise in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification.
  • Experience with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification and administration.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, customs compliance requirements, and customs entry processes.
  • Experience evaluating tariff changes and their impact on business operations.
  • Background in import operations, duty optimization programs, and trade compliance activities.
  • Ability to effectively partner with procurement, logistics, business stakeholders, and external customs brokers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
